An Old American Citizen On A Rant Tells It Like It Is!

Old Glory seems to be fading fast!
Old Glory seems to be fading fast!

The saddest story ever told - in plain English!

Well, Newt Gingrich’s little waltz with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and Mr. Cain’s inability to keep his pants zipped up – a couple of our “honorable” presidential candidates y’know – has finally flipped my lid and set my loud mouth in serious motion! Hey, you conglomeration of Washington idiots – I’m through putting up with your lawlessness, thievery, dishonesty and do-nothing ways. I don’t have to put up with you tellin’ me how it’s gonna be or your ignorance. How’s that for a voter’s opinion? I’m an oldie but still alive-ie and still voting (until you manage to kill me off by lack of funds, poor health care and whatever other ignoramus stuff you think up and pass into law). You live in another world – not mine – and you have no idea under the heavens what’s going on with real people – particularly senior citizens. You know, really, I don’t care about being given a special designation like “senior citizen” – I just want to be an American and get a fair shake and I want all American citizens to get the same deal. Please notice the word “citizens” in that sentence.

If you’re not going to pay us what we’ve already paid into Social Security – just tell us. If we no longer have Medicare – just tell us and if you intend to get together your little group of “folks” who are going to decide who gets what health care when – tell us that too. I’m so damned tired of listening to your goofy ideas, liberal spin and “well, what the American people need…” I could spit. I, personally, can take care of my own business without your help – but I’d damned sure like to get what I’ve already paid in – out! When I paid for it all you B.S. politicians were just a gleam in your daddy’s eye – and I’m sorry he didn’t go to the local bar, have a few drinks and forget both his eye and the gleam from whence you eventually came. And for the record – if you think you’re going to force me or any other American to buy health insurance from the guys you’ve got lined up waiting on those premiums (including AARP) and from which you already have or will get your kick-back – it ain’t gonna happen today, tomorrow – fact is, I don’t see a future for the idea at all.

Yep, there’ll come a time when I can’t take care of myself – but I have no hope in hell that you’re going to do anything that will alter that situation nor are you required to do so. You are required to make sure I get the funds I paid into government programs with a promise of a return in my old age. For starters, so you’ll really understand, I suggest that all us old AND young folks out here quit paying for YOUR privileges to health care and retirement that are absolutely wonderful -- which the rest of us don’t get and can’t afford. I don’t owe you one damned thing – you don’t do your job – you’re like a leech on this country and for the most part are liars lined up like dominoes on a table. Dominoes on a table are known to take a fall – and when one goes they all fall down – consider it a huge possibility!

As Americans we’re fed up, worn out, and broke. That’s your fault too and no one else’s, Until everyone (like me) who’s on the outside looking in figures that out you’ve still got a free ride. I’d rather vote for a rattle snake than any one of you – you’ve been bought and paid for either before or after you were elected – us dumb asses out here can’t really say for sure when that happened – but it damned sure happened. As an old American I’ve been watchin’ this mess a long time…but, I know a lot of young Americans that have already realized they’lll never get a cent out of a government program they’ve diligently paid into for years and are required to keep paying for. They know when they get to retirement age it ain’t gonna be there – and that’s a given. I understand y’all “borrowed” from the Social Security funds some time back and just never – kinda – paid it back and there’s no hope you ever will. You stole from us and we don’t like thieves even if they have “Senator” or “Congressman” before their name. We like it even less when the thief’s addressed as “President.”

Right here -- I’m gonna get it all out in the open – okay? I live in central Texas and you’ve also got a whole lot of really mad folks living at Fort Hood – the largest military base in this country – and the surrounding area. You let a Muslim crazy (which this government hired, investigated, approved, trained, and paid real well) get up on a table and kill our men in uniform, their families and everybody within the site of his guns – and nothing’s happened to the S.O.B. yet. The folks he killed are still dead and their children orphaned and the folks he maimed are still crippled and handicapped with no definite future.

What’s wrong with this government that they can’t hold a trial (or a court martial) and sentence this killer to death or life in prison for his crime against military humanity? All I hear is he’s now in a wheelchair and his health is bad. Does anyone but me and soldiers and their families at Fort Hood see what’s wrong with this picture? The man came to where our military lived and cut them down like it was open season on American soldiers on their own turf. That idiot became a part of our military so he’d have easy access to kill Americans and he’d had his plan in place for years. I understand he’s under great mental stress and is usually under suicide watch as well. If y’all run out of folks to watch this guy give some of us here in central Texas a call – we’d love to help you out and we’ll personally make the time. I don’t care if the bastard’s in a wheel chair on not. Instead of killing our kids he should have gone home to his own country and carried out his vendetta – we don’t live like that here and I want justice and I want it NOW! It’s already been three years and so far we’re still feeding this guy and treating him like royalty – pardon me?

There comes a time when a thinking person says “enough!” There’s more folks moving into the “thinking” category in this country every day. I love my country and the folks who live in it no matter what age, color, religion or culture they are. I don’t love these idiots who come to this country to kill us, sell drugs, kill our children while they raise their own on our dime and would as soon spit on us and our flag as not. And how about them speaking English? We’re an English speaking country and I want it to stay that way. Let’s get some real people who really represent us in government and clean up this mess, too. If we can’t find any – well, it may be time to say “enough” and do the best we can on our own.

I AM NOT advocating the overthrow of the American government. I AM advocating a “let’s get real or get out plan” for the folks running our government and you can bet your patoot that won’t be viewed as politically correct. I, for one, am so damned tired of “politically correct” I could vomit. To be politically correct you have to lie, steal and go against everything thinking human beings have held dear in this country since it became a country. Trust me, dear hearts, I (quite obviously) ain’t politically correct nor are a bunch of other Americans who have had their noses rubbed in it until they could conceivably drown when it rains if they look up.

With any luck at all I may live another 10 years and that’s probably pushing the envelope but I intend to be real vocal about this mess our country is in and standing up for my own personal rights as an American and everyone else’s every chance I get. I’ve never, in nearly 75 years on this old planet, been fearful of and for my own government and what they’re involved in. I tell you truthfully, dear hearts -- I’m afraid -- very, very afraid. No, I’m not afraid for my own personal safety – but all of us need to think about that because that’s changed, too. Crime is running so rampant that there’s now free home delivery – bad folks come to your door and knock and when you answer they shoot you dead. The assassin that comes to my door better be a quick thinker and an even faster draw ‘cause I intend for him/her/them to leave my property feet first. Seems to me this whole country is boiling mad, discouraged and so close to the edge -- and the powers that be really don’t seem to have a clue – or even a vague idea.

We’ve tried to vote and deal and cope – how’s that working out for you? Government employees get more comfortable, better working conditions and wonderful benefits year after year. How y’all living? Can you pay your bills? How’s your mama ‘n ‘em – getting good health care and living a peaceful old age? Hell no – but those in elected office are living the life of Riley, handing out favors, scooping in pay offs, apologizing for our country to foreign entities and all the while telling us to get used to the way things are going because it’s what’s needed for the survival of this country. I think those S.O.B.’s need an extended trip in the same moccasins most U.S. citizens are tromping around in (and have for way too many years now). Truth is, the soles of our moccasins -- along with our patience -- are getting pretty damned thin.

I suggest that folks in government get the same benefits we get – Social Security and Medicare at retirement age – just as if they worked for the little company down the street. When you quit serving in the government the gravy train ends – if you’ve been there -- say 30 years -- you can draw retirement – on a scale just like the rest of us. But if you haven’t been there to retirement age – Bubba, you need to find a job and re-establish your life ‘cause the American people don’t pay you no more nor do we keep payin’ for your benefits. If you’re dishonest in office and convicted of a crime – in any way – you’re out of a job, no more benefits and we don’t owe you NOTHIN’ ever again – you just screwed the pooch and need to find a job flippin’ burgers or scubbing floors – you know, the jobs you think are just fine for everybody else.

I, for one, don’t want to see any system established in this country that spreads the money around equally so everybody has the same thing. If you work for it – it’s yours. If you don’t work for it – you’re probably gonna get damned hungry. We are a capitalist nation – not socialist. I volunteer at an agency that is next door to the food bank. I see folks drive up every month in $50,000 vehicles and draw food at the food bank. Hell, man, sell that car, get real and buy your own groceries – if you can afford those car payments you can afford to feed your own kids and that’s just fact. If we start at the bottom giving Americans back their pride and self-worth maybe it’ll trickle UP to Washington, D.C.

Do I really think this rant is going to change anything? Of course not – I’m just old not demented -- but there needs to be someone who tells it like it is, bottom line, written down on paper and published and I’m appointing me as I don’t have one hell of a lot to lose or time to lose it in. For those of you who disagree with me – ignore me. For those of you who have been waiting for someone to tell it like it is – it’s told.

If you remember only one thing you read here let it be this statement – “The time has come for the average American citizen to be afraid -- very, very afraid.” I feel it in my heart.

There's a new book called "Throw Them All Out", by Peter Schweizer:

http://www.amazon.com/Throw-Them-All-Peter-Schweiz

It goes after everyone, and ought to outrage all Americans. One that's not in there is an ex-Arizona Senator, who got federal taxpayer funding for a new dam for Lake Pleasant (just north of Phoenix), raising the lake level by 100', and creating all sorts of new, high priced, lakeside real estate. Guess who owns lots of that land?

I too have tired of the lying, self-serving, do-nothing (not always a bad thing!), say anything to get elected/re-elected, self-anointed political elite who are inexorably running our country off a cliff. I'm tired of our government using up our military, killing our young men & women & spending trillions of dollars of OUR money fighting wars they refuse to win, defending the borders of foreign countries who hate us (or at least don't respect us) while at the same time refusing to defend our own borders & sovereignty. I'm tired of these same people referring to SS benefits & my Army retired pay (I earned them both) as entitlements. I feel like throwing them all out too, but I fear the alternative, not for me, but for my kids &, eventually, my grandkids. My oldest son is a Ron Paul supporter & I don't disagree with many of his thoughts, but I firmly believe that he has no chance in H... of ever getting elected to the presidency. I also firmly believe that a vote for Paul is a vote for Obama and the continued dismantling of our Republic. Last election I went to the polls, held my nose & pulled the lever for the nominee of the political elites & I see what that got us. If the nominee this time around is Romney (who it seems the political elite have chosen this time around, it is "his turn'" after all), I truly don't know what I am going to do. Is he better than Obama? Maybe. Okay, definitely. But should that be the only standard? Will he do anything to radically change the course our country is headed down? It seems doubtful. Will he reverse some of the damage that has already been done (not just by Obama, but by all politicians on both sides)? Again, only maybe. Is he our best hope? God, I hope not!

Hi Will -- now let me see, wonder who that "good 'ol boy might be" that did the lake project? There's so much down right awful stuff going on -- and seems the whole bunch is in some kind of crooked mess one way or another. I think there's a lot of honest folks out there that would represent us fairly and strongly -- unfortunately, they've had to work all their lives and didn't have time to gather up enough money to run for office? Thanks for your comments -- always glad to hear from you. Best, Sis

Hey Susan -- one finds as one gets older that the truth (painful though it may be) floats pretty close to the end of the tongue most of the time. Must admit I've never been a quiet soul even as a young woman -- BUT I'm truly ticked off with all this mess. Feels like someone with a bull dozer has uprooted all Americans ever did and believed in -- nope, not gonna get started again. Thanks so very much for your comments and encouragement. Best, Sis

Hi Notwork -- I truly appreciate your insightful comments and thanks so very much. Unfortunately, I think even if the press would pay Ron Paul any attention he's too nice a guy to ever get elected president so I'm with you -- on voting day close my eyes and hope for the lesser of the evils! Well Angela, from one oldie to another - BRAVO! This insanity has got to stop somewhere and soon. I love it that no one seems to be aware of the fact that Social Security and other benefits to citizens are always first on the budget cuts! It's not like seniors ever paid into anything, or worked their entire lives, or fought for their country!

"I love it that no one seems to be aware of the fact that Social Security and other benefits to citizens are always first on the budget cuts!"

Actually, they aren't. Claiming that Republicans want to cut them is a scare tactic that the Dems have been using for years. They should be ashamed for scaring old folks like that!

I agree with you Will -- and understand exactly what you're saying -- but fact is if SS recipients get a cost of living raise this year it'll be the first in 3 years. I, personally am grateful for what I get -- real grateful -- but my groceries and gas got higher just like everyone else's so that "cost of living" raise SHOULD help if we get it. I understand, however, it was proposed at 3.6% (which Medicare premiums will go up and wipe that out). Supposedly the "raise" is already being cut (lowered) as we speak so it may become a reality in some form and it may not.I kind of view the whole thing like I've got a little bank account that was my old age/rainy day fund and our government doesn't know it's raining! Thanks for your astute comments and love hearing from you, Best, Sis

WillStarr profile image

"...but fact is if SS recipients get a cost of living raise this year it'll be the first in 3 years."

That's absolutely correct, and that's because the new inflation index does not include food and energy cost (gasoline and heating oil!) increases. Can you think of a better dodge than that?

Washington promises the world, but delivers hot air, while simultaneously spending us into bankruptcy! That's why they should be severely restricted.

"This country has created effective politicians, and terrible leaders."

Well said! That's exactly the problem, and Jefferson put it this way:

"A politician thinks of the next election - a statesman, of the next generation."

Angela Blair profile image

Angela Blair Hub Author 6 months ago

Thanks for the comments Will and Jaywig -- seems like we're all on the same page here. I think my question in writing the piece is where do we go now? I'm reminded of the old thing about the guy who saved the snake's life and then the snake bit him. When the guy asked the snake why he bit him the snake answered "you knew I was a snake when you picked me up." Our choices look like a bag of snakes to me and any one of them will "bite" the American public if elected. Question is -- and where the "be very, very afraid" comes from -- with choices like this looks like we lose no matter which way we go! The only candidate who appears to be an honest man is Ron Paul -- and for my money he's too nice to have any hope at all of being elected -- even the press ignores him 'cause he's a decent human being and not "newsworthy". So, what's the answer? I for one am stymied. Bestest, Sis

As it stands, I am supporting virtually anyone who can oust the current president. His policies and left wing ideology are preventing our recovery, and his penchant for blaming everyone but himself is childish and petulant.

None of the candidates are ideal, but any one of them would be better than the current president.

Hi Angela

Very well said on all topics!! This is a very scary time for us all both young and old considering there is not one single candidate running for president today that I am comfortable voting for. I believe every single candidate running so far will do more harm than good in my opinion! All those running for president are shady, clueless, money hungry, backstabbing politicians that have absolutely no genuine regard for the American people and will ruin this country more than it already is. I'll be damned if I vote for any one of those disconnected candidates and feel responsible for assisting them in rubbing us all into the ground as a people and as a country! I will not be an accomplice to their agendas!

Great article, I agree with every word you said and if you were running for pres.. you would get my vote!

Great Hub Angela,

So what's the game plan so we can all join up and do it?

Mine was to leave you folks in the dust and head on out to see if I could find a better place. Have no hope that I will ever see SS.

What this did for me was I stopped supporting the buggers in Washington with taxes.

If you vote Republican, you get a liar.

Vote Democrat you get a liar and a thief.

Maybe it's the other way around - really can't tell much difference between the two parties.

I'm done with it until the blood starts flowing, if you know what I mean.

What's your plan?

Cheers,

John D. Wilson

Hey John -- well, I'm workin' on some sort of a plan. I've considered finding a nice, warm cave to live in and a good horse to ride. I've thought about another country but most of them, if not all, are far worse off than we are (that's really scary). While I'm thinkin' about all this I try to amuse myself by watchin' these guys step on their own hooters and then just stand there like an idiot while they argue over who's John Deer Tractor is the greenest. When I get a plan together I'm definitely gonna share it -- for the time being looks to me like yours is the best -- just quit paying them fools and see what happens! Lots of people talk, but no one seems to come close to an answer to the problem - cut the funding to the beast. :o)

Most countries are in worse shape than the US, but their are some that are better if you have the skills.

When the idea pops into your noggin, don't hesitate to share.

To your continued success!
