Wanted: Ideas To Stop Healthcare Bill From Becoming Law

Coming attraction in America?
Coming attraction in America?

Author's Disclaimer: Readers will find no new information in this article pertaining to the soon-to-be-law healthcare bill but instead comments on what's transpired to date and solicitation of reader's ideas as to how us plain, old vanilla Americans, can stop this thing before it's the law of the land.

Having followed the "proposed" healthcare bill legislation from the git-go and watching this steamroller government in action; my question is now reduced to: Is there nothing the American people can do to keep this healthcare bill from becoming law?

We’ve all watched the useless town hall meetings as elected officials completely ignored every word their constituents said, other than to get red in the face, as they desperately tried to come up with a politically acceptable answer.

The heated debates on television were just that – heated debates! Although viewers became more knowledgeable as to what’s in the healthcare bill by hearing both sides; when the debate ended there were even more unanswered questions in the mind of the general public.

It appears gatherings and groups of dissenters have made no headway or even slowed this thing down – if indeed they were acknowledged at all. The White House declared they’d been taken by surprise when a monumental number of citizens gathered to voice their objections in Washington, D.C. although the press had been quite vocal about the upcoming event for weeks. If the government was "surprised" to see all those folks when they showed up it makes one truly wonder about national security.

Our senators and congressmen, now in office, are obviously unaware of just how tough the job market is out there as they’re surely not thinking about job security. They go blithely forward to get this bill passed while their constituents are bombarding their offices with "don’t do it" emails. Perhaps they think the people that put them in office will just forget the whole thing once the healthcare bill is law.

They’ll find that’s not true come election day -- there’s a bunch of folks making lists and taking names and the chances of voters "forgetting" are slim and none. After all, voters have to live with the ramifications of the healthcare bill the rest of their lives because the way it’s written it’s irrevocable! The bill also leaves the people who pass it virtually unscathed – it doesn’t seem to apply to them.

The repeated rhetoric coming out of Washington, from the President on down, consistently refer to the long established laws of this land – the Constitution and Bill of Rights – as they charge ahead to negate the very laws of which they speak. Seems they view the Constitution and Bill of Rights as handy reference materials with little real importance.

The legal challenge to the healthcare bill by 13 of this country’s attorneys general is apparently being completely ignored by the government as the press covered it when the challenge was presented and it quickly faded from public view. If the challenge isn’t even acknowledged, considered and answered when it’s presented; it certainly has no chance of making any difference once the bill is passed into law.

The press and supporters of the healthcare bill moan and groan about Democrats and Republicans not meeting one another across party lines and aisles to work and promote the healthcare bill. It ought to be apparent that if one, or many, don’t approve of the tune the band is playing; they’re gonna refuse to partner up and dance the Hokey Pokey. It appears those disapproving refused to dance so the the dance was moved elsewhere -- behind closed and locked doors!

What can the average citizen do to stop this healthcare bill from passing and becoming law? Voting or not voting for any one or all of the folks currently representing us can take the form of a payback but it’ll be like shutting the barnyard gate after all the livestock have gotten out. The healthcare bill will be passed long before voting day rolls around and we’ll be stuck with it as law – no matter how we vote because it's after the fact!.

There’s a faction among the citizenry that are now beginning to make some pretty scary noises. Organizations like the Tea Parties, etc. are working diligently and legally to get changes made in government. Other organizations, that are very directed and have no interest whatsoever in conforming to what’s considered "acceptable behavior" in this country, are also beginning to "gather up." They’re making it far too clear their agenda is radical and ruthless. For a fact; their kind will attract the dangerous trash of the earth.

The average citizen wants no part of such an agenda but they will, however, be caught right square in the middle should any kind of dangerous stand-off arise. Law-abiding, peaceful people that work, obey the law, pay their taxes and raise their kids could well find themselves in a situation where in order to protect themselves and their families they’ll be forced to choose a side. That’s the way radicals work; you’re either with ‘em or agin’ ‘em and if you're with 'em you play by their rules -- like it or not!

Five points stand out, when considering this whole mess, that ideally would be first and foremost in the mind of this government and both it’s peaceful and radical citizenry. (1) Americans believe they live in a free country and feel their rights as free people are disappearing daily; (2) history proves Americans will fight to protect their freedom, uphold their Constitution and their Bill of Rights; (3) unrest is currently running rampant in America; (4) radicals are not known for logic and at any given time could change "unrest" into a "nation divided" by virtue of their action(s); (5) the actions of the few, without fail, drastically affect the well being of the many.

This healthcare bill has been a huge catalyst for serious unrest in this country, loss of faith in government, loss of belief and respect for our elected officials and loss of hope for the future. It’s carefully crafted, worded and thought out and reaches far past simple healthcare. History has proven America is strong because it is united. The healthcare bill has become a monumental challenge to that unity. Once divided we are no longer strong but scattered, sitting ducks to aggressor nations of the world.

We’ve all heard the numbers quoted on how long a human being can live without air compared to how long one can live without hope. If that analogy also applies to nations; America’s gasping for breath.

It's time to quit fussing and start thinking! How can Americans stop this healthcare bill before it becomes law?

Well, they quit listening to "we the people." All we can do is vote them out, and try to repair the damage.

Keep on hubbing!

They are going to vote this bill into law before anything else can be done. protests are good and should continue but now it has to go a step further at the voting booth. Vote everyone out that voted for this bill and have them introduce legislature to void this bill. The people who should represent us must now actually represent us, not special interest groups and their pockets. We will be called everything in the book but so be it if it saves this country from deteriorating any further. I don't have an answer but maybe the solution stands in a combination of ideas put together simultanously. My 2 cents worth.

Thanks, ehern33 - I appreciate your thoughts to a weighty question. From what I've read in constitutional experts opinions this bill is so cleverly and perfectly worded that once it passes it stands and can't be revoked. I don't know if such wording is even possible but we're not dealing with dummies on this thing and it could be true. We can only hope not. Thanks again for your thoughts - Best, Sis

ehern33 - one can't help but wonder if it can be repaired it's so far reaching. I agree and guess we'll just have to wait and see 'cause it sure likes a done deal as it stands! Thanks for stopping by, Best, Sis

for now the health care bill is on life support. after the scott brown election, dems are jumping ship. i do have one glimmer of hope here in fl. susan kosmos, dem fl. has voted against it from the start.hmm. i was against her from the beginning, but she has shown me wrong. she actually listened to us before that now famous election. she is also trying to stop the prosecution of our navy seals. if only she could be swayed to stop paying illegals just to be here, and maybe send them home to whatever country they belong.

we must keep pushing for our freedoms and our country. all you here need to write to your elected officials and tell them to drill here and drill now. to stop their intrusion on private business and stop spending our way to prosperity. it ain't gonna work.

everyone here knows somebody, and in turn knows somebody else. tell them all. we stopped "mccain-kennedy" from becoming law. we can stop health care, cap and trade, as well as any other bill meant to punish successful people and businesses. cut taxes and get out of the way should be our "bumper sticker slogan."

Hello Angela how are you. What Americans have failed to do is to stop boxing with Obama on policy, we have to unite and push the birth certificate issue. The man is a fraud in every way, and let the black folks get mad if they want to, tuff luck we have to save this nation. The man is Kenyan born, he was on the Kentucky ballot as Kenyan born if my memorey serves me correctly. The media, supreme courts are all in this cover up as they try to turn us into a socialist nation. We all have to scream clear and loud that we want this fraud Obama brought to trial, and the truth about his birth certerficate brought out in the open. Of course you know a lot of heads will roll and thats what they are also afraid of. We need to point blank run these bitches in office out by hand if need be. The time for talking is over, they have no juristiction over us and cant make us buy health insurance. Prove Obama is legal, they cant. Therefore anything this bafoon signs into law is null and void. We need to cut the head off this viper then the whole body dies. We are going to have to stop playing cutsie, and nice with our politically correct programmed minds (which is communist tatics by the way) and say enough is enough. Open up all the cases fileed against this man now. Boycott all the news stations that refuse to speak the truth, we need to boycott all big business, everything until we egt what we want. We need to shut this nation down and tell them you dont run shit, we do. We the people say when this nation moves, and when it stops. We got to wake up as a nation. Sorry for such a long post Angela but I got worked up...lol! Keep up the good work on your articles, and subjects, and sorry for any misspelled words readers, I'm terrible at spelling when typing fast.

HUBBERS

On 3/3/10 President Barak Obama presented his Health Reform Insurance bill. All along I always thought that it was called the Healthcare Reform legislation bill.

Did the president slip up and expose the real intent of what he and the government plans are for the healthcare industry?

The US has the best health care in the world. It's not about health care it's about controlling insurance cost and government control of another industry.

The republicans point out that to control healthcare cost congress needs to pass laws controlling the factions that create the rising cost of healthcare.

President Obama and the Democrat leadership don't get it either.

Obama said, we need every one to pay for insurance (that increases increases the insured pool )so that the cost comes down .Right on, there is a income -cost relationship.

With 9.7% unemployment the paying pool goes down and insurance cost goes up. Result higher premiums to paying customers ,sometimes necessary for insurance companies to stay in business.

The government should have concentrated on jobs first instead of wasting 14 months on healthcare reform.

The $787 billion approved in Jan. was to save, produce jobs

and hold unemployment to under 8%.

Here are some facts that you will not see on ABC,Cb's,BBC,CNN and other News Medias.

Since Obama took office the government has hired some 55,000 new employees including 7,000 in Feb of this year, while the private sector has lost 15 million and in Feb lost another 36,000.

The average federal worker makes $108,000 compared to $69,000 in the private sector.Another comparison is in fringe benefits paid out, the federal employee gets $40,000 and the private employee gets $9,000.

Something is dramatically wrong in the marketplace. The government is the largest employer and only 2% were unemployed compared to 19.7% (in some ares up to 20% )

Much of the blame is with the government, they control what has happened in our country.

So wake up America,be heard and contact your congressman !

It is now to be proven Obama never attended Columbia, the C.I.A. and Columbia were working together to create this fraud called Obama, uuuuh just saying that idiots name agravates me. This man Obama has got to go, along with all that he signed into law and lets send a message loud and clear to the commies that are trying to take us over, and to those dumb sell out American liberal fucks "Dont tread on us!!!" You want socialism/communism because you dont appericate what America is truly about then go. This is the land of the free, not about being taken care of but building your own future to being well off or whatever. Chow

Thanks for stopping by Justinpierre - I checked out the website you suggested but the various sources of info there wouldn't open for me. Could well be my computer as I've had a bit of trouble with it lately. Indeed, our country is in sad shape -- I personally believe November will tell the tale if everyone will get out and vote! Ok it may be your computer because the link right under justinpierre works for me, anyway just go google: Atlah.org, click on it and you will see all the various topics you can look at. Perhaps you did that and it still wont open up for you. I hope just going to Atlah.org will help you out. Lets keep up the good work, this may be our last chance to save this nation but I think we will win this one, this time and keep watch. Surly our younger generations are not ready to run and keep this nation secure because of their ignorance about a lot of things but they know how to text, and tweet, and twitter, they can do that real good.

Yeah heres an Idea : Read and understand exactly what the bill is intended to do and what it will actually cost you versus believing everything you hear from a tea-bagger or the propaganda machine known as the Right Wing. I mean seriously actually do research get informed with fact versus bullshit .I can tell you and other people that have commented on this topic are typically just racist. You know who is the real antichrist with real anti American views? People that talk out of there ass .Oh no Barack Obama is in office and you know what I heard he wants to make us all muslim ,and he s not even from america and guess what else hes a darn ni--er..I mean please give me break you dont look stupid so dont act stupid.Do the research understand what it actually means to you and your family instead of fox news and Rush Limbaugh's pill popping ass wants you to believe

theleftside -- appreciate you commenting although we obviously don't agree. Neither I nor the people who have commented here are racists nor are we ignorant. We also don't personally attack other commenters for their opinions if they differ from ours. You suggested I read and understand the bill I'm referring to -- trust me, I understand it very well. I suggest you read a book on manners and Hubpages rules on personal attacks. Sis

AngelaBlair ---I do not think at all, you are a ignorant person or even racist .That would take me knowing you from a personal stand point, which I obviously do not. I truly think you are a educated person by your Hubs.I would agree that we are on complete oposite side of the spectrum on our views ,which as you know in this country the ability to disagree on factual politcal issues makes our country the greatest.I'am a business owner and as a business owner I have found the whole Obama care issue completly taken out of context,as well as extremly misrepresented.I also find a large number of people who oppose the issue are usally (not always) wrong on what the bill means to them and how much it will cost them. I guess I'am sick and tired of people bashing this president on propaganda and misinformation. I've also found that alot of people from let's say a certain geographical location have and are trying to get our president out of office because of one thing .His race.To me you can not agree with the presidents, views ,policy, and social values, but to misinform and speak mostly unfactual claims on his policy to cover up the real reasons some dont want him in office (the race card) is complete and utter nonsense and has no place in our country this day in age.I think it brings our country back in time versus the progress that this country needs to stay current in the times we are in.With that said I'am sorry if I lead you to believe that I was calling you ignorant or a racist .I think it was geared towards my anger towards all the racist rhetoric, that I've been hearing comming rom the right. If I have offended you or anyone else please forgive me and accept my deepest apologies for I would be no better then the the people I think our judging on racial, sterotypical ,rhetoric. So from the bottom of my heart- Mrs.Blair I'am sorry-R.S-theleftside

theleftside -- thanks so much for returning and making your intent clear. I, too, am a business owner for many, many years. I don't know if that qualifies my opinions as right or wrong -- or if indeed there is a "right" or "wrong" opinion on what we've been discussing. I agree there are many that are not familiar with the bill and their anger is based on what they've been told -- or don't understand. I find that to be the rarity and not the norm. I believe most Americans understand it fully and 60% of us don't like it and don't want it according to the national polls I've read. Again, I don't know that makes us right or wrong but we're certainly not indifferent. As to racism -- I became bored with that a long time ago. Everything and everybody that can resorts to "the race card" as our liberal press refers to it and frankly in this day and time that's a bunch of b.s. The man sitting in the oval office is proof of that -- most of America voted for him and he was half-white and half-black back then, too. I, by the way, am a half-breed Indian and have always refused to even acknowledge racism. I was in no way offended by your opinion as I consider the "comments section" of Hubpages to be a wonderful forum for everyone's opinions and thoughts. When those opinions and thoughts are presented carelessly and appear as direct affronts to either myself or the persons who comment on my Hubs then I'm definitely offended.

Again, I sincerely appreciate you returning and clearing this matter up between us as I enjoy reading your work and would like for us to be able to comment and communicate with one another in the future. Your apology is most definitely accepted and I offer you mine. Perhaps we could agree to disagree on our views and be friends? Best, Sis
